At Toribio Psychological Services (TPS), our comprehensive internship program equips aspiring psychologists with hands-on experience in therapy and psychological assessments, ensuring they are well-prepared for their professional careers. TPS has applied for membership with the Association for Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC). Currently, TPS is not a member. Applicants should contact the Training Director for a formal application.
What TPS Offers Our Interns
Assessment
Interns will learn to administer, score, and interpret psychological tests accurately, and integrate assessment data to form evidence-based diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
Supervision
Interns will receive consistent, high-quality supervision, mentorship, and regular feedback from experienced professionals to support their growth and development.
Individual and Cultural Diversity
Foster cultural sensitivity for working with diverse populations; training covers cultural influences and strategies for culturally competent care.
Professional Values, Attitudes and Behaviors
Support professional identity development. Interns will clarify their roles and responsibilities as psychologists, gaining confidence in their skills and professional judgment.
Consultation and Interprofessional- Interdisciplinary Skills
Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration. Interns will learn to work effectively with other healthcare professionals and understand psychology's role within the broader healthcare system.
Intervention
Interns will implement evidence-based therapies, tailor interventions to individual needs, and monitor treatment progress to ensure optimal outcomes in addressing mental health issues.
Research
Encourage integrating scientific research and clinical practice. Interns will apply research to clinical work and critically evaluate the evidence supporting their interventions.
Ethical and Legal Standards
Promote understanding and application of ethical principles and professional standards. Interns will navigate ethical dilemmas and demonstrate professionalism with clients, colleagues, and the community.
